The “Business in China” Prep Series

These half-day, fully-interactive workshops include information and training appropriate for companies at different stages and levels of sophistication in China.

           Workshop 1: The Basics (4 hours)

  • Appreciate the values influencing Chinese business behavior and processes.
  • Learn how to position and represent your company.
  • Understand unique Chinese concepts such as indirect/high context communications, face, guanxi and hierarchy in corporate China.
  • Create a checklist for choosing suppliers/partners and tactics for maintaining relationships.
  • Become familiar with business protocol and etiquette – extending respect and avoiding offense.
  • Get the most out of your trip to China – setting appointments, arranging logistics, and ensuring health, safety and comfort.
  • Dining and Entertaining (includes Chinese lunch).

    Workshop 2: Advanced (4 hours)

  • Understand attitudes toward (IPR) intellectual property rights, contracts and compliance.
  • Recognize and mitigate problems and conflicts.
  • Create effective ongoing communication with Chinese suppliers and counterparts.
  • Understand the business, government and regulatory environment in China.
  • Learn negotiation motivations, expectations and strategies.
  • Includes Chinese lunch.
