You have unique needs learning to speak Mandarin as an adult. Our proprietary Mandarin Chinese curriculum and teaching methodology was designed and refined to address those needs. Students at TLI-The Mandarin School progress through a systematic curriculum that constantly reinforces what you've learned and build upon that foundation, as opposed to teaching by rote memorization.
Your time is valuable and you need results. Linguists say that it takes an English speaker 2,000 hours to be come fluent and literate in Mandarin Chinese using traditional methods. Over the 51 years that TLI has developed and refined its world-renown Mandarin teaching curriculum, we have demonstrated that our students become literate and fluent in approximately 900 hours. No matter whether you are studying for fluency or simply conversational Mandarin in social situations, you will achieve your goals faster. Additionally, our up-to-date textbooks focus on today’s practical needs of communication and feature simplified characters and pinyin (Mainland China standard).
Learning to communicate in Mandarin requires individual feedback from an experienced teacher. The tonal nature of Mandarin Chinese makes it virtually impossible to learn to speak Mandarin in a large class environment or from CDs. To effectively speak, students require specific feedback on where, and how, they need to improve. Our very small Mandarin group class sizes and highly experienced, native Mandarin-speaking instructors ensure each individual steadily improves.
You are in good company. In Canada, TLI-The Mandarin School has taught executives and staff teams to speak Mandarin from The Hudson’s Bay Company, The Home Depot, The Canada China Business Council, TD Financial Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers, The Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Cooperation, Scotia Bank, Canadian Tire, Maple Leaf Foods and CBC; as well as numerous trade, investing, small business organizations and senior provincial government officials. Additionally, TLI-The Mandarin School keeps its clients connected with China-related business reports and events.
We focus on your needs. Whether it is teaching on site at your company, accommodating your irregular travel schedule, providing you with individual feedback to improve your Mandarin, or giving you a wide range of options to study during the day - our clients' needs are top priority for us.
